Eye conditions – diagnosis and treatment
Early detection and modern treatments to protect your eye health
Our eyes are our most important sensory organ – and many eye conditions develop gradually, often without noticeable symptoms in their early stages. Early diagnosis is therefore crucial to preserve vision and prevent secondary damage. At Augenpraxis Odeon, we use state-of-the-art technology and gentle procedures to diagnose eye conditions precisely and treat them on an individual basis.
Common eye conditions at a glance
Cataract
As part of the natural ageing process, the eye’s lens gradually becomes cloudy. This can lead to blurred vision, increased sensitivity to glare and reduced visual acuity. Cataract surgery with implantation of an artificial lens can restore clear vision.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is caused by damage to the optic nerve, most commonly associated with increased intraocular pressure. Because the condition often develops without early symptoms, regular preventive examinations are essential. Treatment options range from eye drops and laser therapy to microsurgical procedures.
Retinal diseases
Retinal diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and vascular occlusions can impair central vision. Modern diagnostic methods such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) allow precise assessment, while targeted therapies, including intravitreal injections (IVT), can slow disease progression.
Dry eye syndrome (Sicca syndrome)
Symptoms such as dryness, burning or a foreign body sensation can result from disturbances of the tear film. Depending on the cause, treatment may include artificial tears, specialised light or laser therapies, or targeted medical treatments.
